Difficulties with Speech

I think you're confused. Oral Motor Exercises(NSOME) are not the same as Oral Motor Planning. One is about strength, the other is coordination. Oral Motor Exercises are not supported by evidence based research. Oral Motor Planning is. What you've described above IS traditional speech therapy. Google articulation therapy and you will find all the EBP articles you need to support "your theory."

Thanks for your perspective. The post is quite old and I’m not a speech therapist, and although you seem to think PROMPT is traditional speech therapy we have been told of differentkt from the PROMPT Institute. Unfortunately not all of us are blessed with open minded speech therapists but over the last couple of years sinc that post, our patient group has tripled and oral motor planning is a huge road block to a large population of ADNP diagnosed patients. You sound very knowledgeable so excuse me if I worded my post in a way that you thought I was referring to articulation not being part of speech. I’ve learned this year that not all speech therapists are the same and sadly we have had a very bad one for a couple years. Does your ADNP child have no oral motor problems? I would LOVE to hear what type of therapy worked for him/her. Sharing information is so incredibly helpful! 😊
